Only what you type into one of the four forms on this site.
Joining the list, or an event waitlist: your name, your email address, and optionally your phone number, when you can play, how often you play, where you usually play, how long you have been playing, and how you rate your own level. If you join a specific event’s waitlist we also record which event.
Asking for a corporate quote: your name, email address, phone number and group size, and optionally your company, a preferred date, and any notes you add.
A partner or sponsor enquiry: your company name, your name, the contact details you give us, and what you are interested in doing with us.
We also record the IP address of each form submission for a short period. This is not analytics — it is the mechanism that stops a bot filling the forms thousands of times. We do not use it to identify you and we do not link it to your record.
We do not run website analytics. There is no tracking pixel, no advertising tag, and no third-party script watching what you do on the page.
At events, photographs and video are taken. That is handled separately: you are asked at the event what you are comfortable with, and your answer is recorded against your name — internal use only, saam padel’s own marketing, or use by the partners who were at that event. Internal only is the default. You can change your answer at any time by emailing us.
To answer you, and to run the thing you signed up for.
Your contact details are used to reply to you, confirm a place, and send you the practical detail of an event you are attending. Your playing information is used to group people by ability, so nobody is out of their depth and nobody is bored — that is the whole point of collecting it. Corporate and partner enquiries are used to prepare a quote or a proposal.
If you join the list, you are agreeing to be emailed when new events open. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also simply reply and tell us to stop.
Under POPIA we rely on your consent for marketing email, and on processing being necessary to perform under a contract with you, or to take steps at your request before entering into one, for everything else.
We are a small operation and we use a small number of services. None of them are given your information to use for their own purposes.
Supabase — the database where form submissions are stored. Hosted on Amazon Web Services in Ireland, so your information is stored outside South Africa.
Netlify — hosting for this website, with servers in several countries.
Google Workspace — our email. If you contact us, your message sits in a Google mailbox.
Ireland and the countries where the other two operate have data protection laws that meet the standard POPIA requires, and each provider is contractually bound to protect the information it holds for us.
Coaches, biokineticists and other specialists working at a saam padel event are given only what they need to run their part of the day — usually a list of first names and ability groups.
Sponsors and partners are not given your contact details. They receive numbers and, where you have agreed to it, photographs.
We will not sell your information, and we will not hand our list to another business.
Your record on the list stays until you ask us to remove it, or until you have not opened anything from us and have not attended anything for three years — at which point we delete it.
Corporate and partner enquiries are kept for three years from your last contact with us, because these conversations often restart a season or two later.
Event attendance and consent records are kept for as long as the associated photographs and video exist, because the consent record is what governs what we may do with them.
IP addresses from form submissions are kept for 30 days and then deleted.
Email you send us is kept in our mailbox and follows the same three-year rule.
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete your information, stop emailing you, or stop processing your information for a particular purpose.
Email hello@saampadel.co.za and we will do it, and confirm to you, within 30 days. There is no charge for a reasonable request.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za, or through inforegulator.org.za.
This site does not set any cookies of its own, and we do not run analytics.
Netlify, which hosts the site, may set a technical cookie needed to serve pages correctly. Nothing on this site tracks you between visits or across other websites.
For anything about your information, or to exercise any of the rights above: hello@saampadel.co.za.
We answer within 30 days, and usually a great deal faster than that.
